What is TOEFL?

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers.

Widely accepted by universities and institutions worldwide.

Used for admissions, scholarships, and visa applications.

TOEFL Exam Formats


TOEFL iBT:
Internet-Based Test, most commonly used.

TOEFL PBT:
Paper-Based Test, less common.

iBT is the focus of this course.

Reading:
◦ 60-80 minutes
◦ 36-56 questions
◦ 3-4 passages.

◦ 4-6 lectures
◦ 2-3 conversations.

Scoring System


Each section scored from 0-30.

Total score range: 0-120.

Minimum scores required by institutions vary
80-100 for most universities.
