Practice Passage

Read the following passage:

The Amazon rainforest, often referred to as the "lungs of the Earth," plays a crucial role in regulating the global climate. Covering over 5.5 million square kilometers, the Amazon is the world's largest tropical rainforest, home to an unparalleled diversity of species. The trees in the Amazon absorb vast amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, and release oxygen into the atmosphere. However, deforestation poses a significant threat to this vital ecosystem. Each year, large areas of the forest are cleared for agriculture, logging, and other human activities, which not only reduces biodiversity but also contributes to climate change.
