Grammar Focus - Future Tense
Using "Going To" for Future Plans
This structure is used when you’ve already decided to do something.
Examples:
◦ I am going to visit my grandparents next weekend.
◦ She is going to study for her exams tomorrow.
◦ They are going to move to a new house.
Rule:
Use "going To" + base verb to talk about future plans or intentions.
Present Continuous for Future Arrangements
We use this tense when we’re talking about something that has already been planned or scheduled.
Examples:
◦ I’m meeting my friend for lunch tomorrow.
◦ They’re flying to Paris next week.
◦ We’re having a meeting on Friday.
Rule:
Use the present continuous
subject + am ◦ is ◦ are + -ing verb
to talk about future arrangements that are already planned or scheduled.
