Overall, the number of international students increased across all four courses during the period. Engineering consistently had the highest number of enrollments, starting at 120 in 2010 and reaching 300 by 2015. Business followed a similar trend, with enrollments rising from 100 to 220 over the same period.

Art had the fewest enrollments in 2010, with only 60 students, but saw significant growth, reaching 180 in 2015. Science courses also experienced an increase in international students, growing from 80 in 2010 to 200 in 2015.

In summary, while all four courses saw an increase in international student enrollments, Engineering remained the most popular, and Art experienced the most significant growth.

General Writing Task 1 Example

Task:
You have recently moved to a new city and are planning to invite a friend to visit. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

Explain why you moved.
Describe your new home.
Invite your friend to come and visit.

Sample Answer

Dear Sarah,

I hope this letter finds you well. I’m writing to let you know that I’ve recently moved to a new city for work. The company I work for offered me an exciting promotion, and although it meant relocating, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

I’ve found a lovely apartment in the city center. It’s a cozy two-bedroom place with a beautiful view of the park. The living room is spacious, and there’s even a little balcony where we can sit and enjoy our morning coffee. The neighborhood is fantastic, with plenty of cafes and shops nearby.

I would love for you to come and visit me. The best time to come would be next month when the weather is perfect for exploring the city. We can visit some of the local attractions, and I’ll take you to my favorite spots around town. It would be wonderful to catch up and show you around my new home.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,
Emma

Sample Task 2 Question

Some people believe that online learning is more effective than traditional classroom learning. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Provide reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Sample Answer

In recent years, online learning has gained popularity as an alternative to traditional classroom learning. While some argue that online education is more effective, I believe that it has its advantages and disadvantages, and the effectiveness largely depends on the context in which it is used.

One significant advantage of online learning is the flexibility it offers. Students can access course materials and complete assignments at their own pace, which is particularly beneficial for those who have other commitments such as work or family. Additionally, online courses often provide a wider range of resources, including videos, interactive quizzes, and forums for discussion, which can enhance the learning experience.

However, traditional classroom learning offers a level of interaction that online learning cannot fully replicate. In a classroom setting, students can engage in real-time discussions, ask questions, and receive immediate feedback from the instructor. This face-to-face interaction can foster a deeper understanding of the material and promote collaborative learning among students.

Moreover, not all students have the self-discipline required for online learning. The lack of a structured environment can lead to procrastination and a lower level of engagement. Traditional classrooms provide a more controlled environment that can help keep students on track.

In conclusion, while online learning offers flexibility and access to a variety of resources, it may not be suitable for everyone. Traditional classroom learning still plays a crucial role in providing structured, interactive, and collaborative educational experiences. Therefore, I believe that a blended approach, combining both online and traditional methods, may be the most effective way to enhance learning outcomes.
