Second and Third Conditionals

Second Conditional:
If + past simple, would + base verb
If I had more time, I would study abroad.

Third Conditional:
If + past perfect, would have + past participle
If I had known about the job, I would have applied.

Usage:

• Second conditional for unreal or hypothetical situations in the present or future

• Third conditional for hypothetical situations in the past (things that didn’t happen)

These conditionals are great for discussing what you would like to do or what could have happened differently.
